Last week hubby and I took a date night to Valleyfair for their Hotdish & Hops event. I mean what true Minnesotan could pass up those two things, am I right?
The night we went just so happened to fall on Adult Night, but I think the real winner was the main event – Hotdish & Hops. It was Valleyfair’s way off bringing together two of Minnesota’s favorite things and making them into one big celebration.
This was a sponsored opportunity in collaboration with Valleyfair. All opinions however are mine.
Hotdish & Hops
So what do you expect when you hear hotdish night? I though of course, tater tot hotdish and ya sure you betcha, there it was. Along with green been hotdish, walleye hotdish (YURM!), spaghetti hotdish (a spicy take on an old favorite), and lots more. Plus dessert for when you were finished with all those – either an amazing Nutella Brownie hotdish or a Fruit Pie Funnel Cake hotdish.
Now as far as “hops” go, we were not disappointed. They had my personal favorite (Finnegans) and my husbands favorites (Surly and Summit) plus we got to test out other local brews including the North Star beer (an exclusive brew made by Shakopee-based Badger Hill Brewing Company).
They also had a karaoke stage set up for anyone who wanted to whistle a tune (and who doesn’t after a couple beers?) Oh, plus Bingo and a meat raffle – am I speaking enough Minnesotan yet? 🙂
In all, I think I have to say my favorite hotdish was either the Tater Tot Hotdish (that’s always going to be my heart) and the Nutella Brownie because Nutella is life.
Summer Features & Lineup
Valleyfair always puts on some fun events in the summer, and this post wouldn’t be complete without laying out a few of them so you can schedule them out on your calendar!
Now other than the obvious rides and attactions, the well-known Twin Cities’ amusement park offers loads of summer events such as:
- Hotdish & Hops
- Food Truck Festival
- July 4th BBQ
- Midway Movies
- Beach Bash
- Adult Nights
Beyond events, they’ve added a few new family options to the mix. This includes Planet Snoopy (SO NEAT!), Charlie Brown’s Wind Up, Kite Eating Tree, Linus Launcher, Peanuts 500, and more.
Last year, we brought little miss to check out Planet Snoopy and she fell in love! There is so much to do there for kids of all ages, and it’s nice to have an option away from all the big kid rides.
Season Passes – Get $12.00 off until June 6th!
As we were getting there for the Hotdish & Hops event, I noticed a lot of people were picking up their season passes. With a Valleyfair Gold Pass, you can visit the park an unlimited amount of times, plus enjoy Soak City Waterpark and ValleySCARE. The passes are $87 right now (they go up to $99 on June 6th), and if you find yourself wanting to frequent the park more than a couple times this summer, it might be worth looking into for you!
I’m hoping we’ll get to go again this summer, it’s always a fun trip to take as a family.
Until next time,
Sarah
