Did you know there’s a new neighbor in your town? Okay, well something like that. Maybe they’re not across the street or next door but they’re new to our beautiful Minneapolis/St. Paul area and I’d like to introduce you. Meet my friends at Opendoor, the new and simple way to buy or sell your home.
I probably haven’t talked about it much on here, but we’ve been searching for a new home for a couple years now. I feel like we’re starting to outgrow where we are now and to be honest, I have the itch to get into something more updated and modern. Our current home was built in 2003 which is still somewhat new, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve got a serious case of “I want that” every time we go to the Parade of Homes or visit model homes. I can’t help it! It’s just in my nature.
The concern, however, is that once we find a home, that we won’t be able to sell our current home in time. We’ve run into this issue when we wanted to put an offer in on a new home and our realtor told us we’d have to list our current house in the next few days if we wanted to put in that offer.
Yeah. Cue that nervous breakdown. I definitely wasn’t ready to list, let alone clean up everything for photos to be taken.
So long story short, we didn’t put an offer in, and we’ve kind of been sitting nervously on our hands, scared to get too attached to any new homes in fear of what’s going to come next.
That’s where I thought Opendoor was a neat concept. Here’s how they work.
SELLING A HOME
If you’re selling your home, you can skip the hassle of listing your home, dealing with showings, and months of the uncertainty. You just go to opendoor.com and tell them a little bit about your home to receive a competitive offer on your home within 48 hours.
… 48 hours ya’ll.
After accepting an offer and completing an Opendoor assessment, you are on your way to selling your home in record time.
BUYING A HOME
If you’re buying a home, you can just browse on your own terms from the Opendoor app. They make it really easy to visit hundreds of Opendoor homes so you can quickly find the perfect one and purchase it on your terms. Find available homes, instantly unlock and tour them any day of the week from 6am-9pm, and even make an offer, all from the Opendoor app.
That’s when you have to stop and say, thank you technology. This is something that would’ve never been available to us years ago when we bought our first home, but it’s an amazing way to get through the process now days.
So if you’re like me, and you’re in the market for a new home but the process is so daunting, you can rest a little easier. The streamlined process from Opendoor is going to be a game-changer for the real estate industry and I can’t wait to see how much stress it takes off the process of buying and selling a home.
What do you think? Would you give it a go? I’m thinking when it finally comes time for us to sell, this is going to be the ticket!
