Some samples were obtained for the purpose of this gift guide, however all opinions are my own.
Well as I’m writing my annual Holiday Gift Guide, it occurs to me that we’re wrapping up a very odd year. I think we all knew that by about April this year, but it’s just gotten weirder and weirder. To add to the chaos, we sold our house in October, bounced around and decided to go full-time RV life while we built our new home in Minnesota. So needless to say, this year’s holiday gift guide is going to be a little different! It’s smaller, with a select hand-picked gift ideas for your loved ones. I’ve also added in some of my all-time favorite, tried and true items that I know any recipient would be lucky to receive!
Tips for Gift Giving in 2020 (the year of covid)
I will add, if you are staying home this holiday season or quarantining from loved ones, you’re likely shopping online for gifts. A quick tip if you’re doing this, is to have your gifts shipped to the recipient. You’ll save on shipping costs especially during the holiday season when the mail can get expensive and extremely busy!
Now, let’s get into the guide! I’ve tried to give a few of my favorite gift ideas for every category. These are items that our family have tried and loved!
Falling into this category are some of my favorite gift ideas for kids. I’ve also included some of the popular items I’ve seen from the Christmas lists this year in case you are at a loss for what to get for the kiddos in your life.
We absolutely love the adorable outfits that PK Beans has. And their quality is amazing, you can tell it is made to stand the test of time – especially with kids. They have items for boys, girls, and baby that are super cute. The items shown here for older girls is the “It’s a Dream Dress” in Fig. For the little girls, she’s sporting their “Twirling Leggings” also in Fig along with a super cozy and stretchy “Better Together Tee” in ice pink. The girls love these outfits, I can’t express enough how nice the material is on these!
It’s a Dream Dress – $47
Twirling Leggings – $39
Better Together Tee – $28
These cool buildable kits are so much fun for older kids who love working with their hands. This kit comes with the ability to build two vehicles from one build. If you have someone on your list this year who loves action play, this is one to check out!
SWAGTRON K7 3-in-1 Balance Tricycle & Balance Bike
This one doubled as a birthday gift for my 2-year-old and an early Christmas gift for her at the same time. I love this little bike for so many different reasons. For one, it’s three different bikes in one. It’s a balance bike, a trike and a bike all in one. It’s great for traveling (it can fold up smaller than a regular trike or bike) and it gives kiddos the option to adapt as they learn how to ride. It’s been really fun to watch her on!
Tamagotchi ON Pets
On the other hand, if you have a little girl on your list who loves taking care of babies or pets, they will love these classic Tamagotchi ON. I remember having one of these when I was about 12-years-old and it was my favorite thing in the world! I remember I really wanted a pet, but this electronic one was probably a better move for me at that age. Kids can take care of their electronic pet, play games and watch them grow!
My kiddos absolutely love these swings. They could play for hours on them and still come up with creative ways to play. I love that it’s more than just a regular swing. It can go in circles, front to back, and fit multiple kids at a time. They have fun pushing each other and enjoy going back-to-back as well. It’s been a great gift for them!
Ravel Tales DIY Collectible Plush Toy
This fun little set includes the makings for some adorable friendship bracelets plus a cute stuffed animal unicorn. It’s a great introductory to sewing and working with fine motor skills. They can even learn how to make pom-poms and bracelet crafts!
My kiddos absolutely loved playing with these Supercolor panels from GeoMag. The STEM toys they have available are amazing, and they’re perfect for all age ranges. These ones are probably best for ages 5 and up as it has small magnetic balls that are a lot of fun but not suited for babies or toddlers. Beyond that, my kindergartener had a blast building and designing with these sticks, panels and magnetic balls. You can find these at Target, starting at $39.99!
Every year, I ask my husband for his top ideas for our gift section for guys. I think we all know that men are incredibly hard to shop for. Nearly impossible, most of the time. So when he offers up ideas, I am sure to spread the knowledge! Here are his top recommendations for gifts for men in 2020!
This was the number one pick for my husband this year, as he has gotten them the past couple years! They have all kinds of holiday kits that you can gift the man in your life and they come with a variety of grooming and self care products for them to try out. My hubby’s found a ton of items he loves over the years by sampling them in these boxes. This time of year, they have limited edition sets that are a lot of fun!
Birchbox Best of Grooming Gift Box ($129 value) retails $46
No this handsome guy isn’t a model, I gave my husband his present early this year. He is wearing the Insulated Snap Shirt from KUIU, which just happens to be his new favorite winter shirt of his. It can be worn as a mid-layer shirt or a lightweight jacket, it’s lightly insulated and water resistant which makes it an awesome layer for him on his hunting trips. I was amazed at how light and somewhat thin that it is, because it looks thick but it’s not. But because it’s insulated, it’s warm – it’s like magic. He’s already thinking about what color he wants to get next.
KUIU Insulated Snap Shirt $149
Back to basics here, let’s talk about what we know. Women usually have a good idea of what they could use in terms of gifts. This year, I had a few things on my list that I thought would be nice. With these on my wish list this year, my husband came through early in terms of birthdays and anniversaries so I was able to put them to the test and share the ones that are worth checking out!
This one has been so much fun to learn. When I first opened the box, I was so intimidated. I had been eyeing up the Explore Air 2, but my husband decided I needed the Maker and so that’s what he got! But I really do love it, and it has the capability to cut wood as well! That’s unique to the maker, in case you were wondering. If you think you want to start in the middle of the road and work your way up, I still think the Explore Air 2 would be a great place to start. They both have amazing capabilities to cut vinyl and other materials to make some really cool custom products.
By far my favorite kitchen appliance, this thing does it all. It’s a stovetop, slow cooker, it does baking, searing, and so much more. I received this as a gift probably four or five years ago and I still use it more than any other appliance. I love the size and capability that this gadget has to make meals with one tool. Worth every penny!
Ninja Auto-iQ Multi Cooker – $130
I will be adding more to the list as we get closer to the holidays! There is always more that could be added to a Christmas wish list. If you have anything to add, feel free to leave a comment below! I love hearing what’s on your lists this year.
Hearts,
Sarah
