I’m always a sucker for something that makes meal planning a little easier. I usually spent quite a bit of time on the weekends browsing Pinterest for recipes and ideas for what to make that next coming week. So when the new app, Innit reached out to me and asked me to give it a try, I was all ears – especially when they sent me a few goodies for my kitchen that I could use while I’m cooking!
So if your New Year’s resolution was to make healthier meals for your family, it’s not too late to accomplish that. Especially if you fell off the boat because it was taking too much time to scope out recipes or adapt them to fit your family’s tastes. Innit makes it easy to find recipes, adapt them to your family’s liking and it even holds your hand along the way of the cooking process.
What I love about their recipes is that it gives you your shopping list too, so when you’re heading to the store with your meal plan in hand (via the app) it also has your list for you as well. And beyond that, when you get home with your groceries and are ready to start cooking, it gives you the process along with a video on how to make your meal. I love videos when I’m cooking because it’s so easy to interpret a recipe differently when you’re reading it but if you’re seeing it, it’s hard to mess it up!
In the bottom of your screen while you’re cooking, you’ll also have a little running clock to help you determine when it’s time to do the next step or how long it’s going to take you. That’s also nice because sometimes new recipes can be overwhelming and it’s easy to lose track of what you’re doing or how long you’ve been doing it!
Innit also asks you your dietary preferences, likes/dislikes or allergies when you log in for the first time. So you can get rid of the ingredients that you won’t like or can’t have – right out of the chute. Bye mushrooms, see you never!
One other fancy feature that Innit has is that it connects to your smart appliances and helps customize your cooking experience that way! (I don’t have any smart appliances, so I can’t speak to exactly how that works, but it sounds pretty cool!)
You can download the IOS and Android app for free at www.innit.com, which features meal planning, cooking instructions, and smart shopping lists for healthy meals such as Broccoli Quinoa Bowl, Sesame Nori Mushroom Bowl, and Steak Kale Salad… the list goes on.
