Hey there, friend! Today, I want to give you a sneak peek into my gym bag. You know, that trusty companion that comes with me on every workout adventure. So, grab a seat and let’s dive in!
Comfortable Sneakers
First things first, let’s talk about the key basics of any good gym session: comfortable sneakers. I’ve got mine nestled snugly in the bottom of my bag, ready to support me through every squat, jump, and sprint. It’s hard to find a pair of women’s running sneakers that you love, but these cloudfoam shoes from adidas have been amazing for me from street to studio. Or if you’re a guy, insert your mens sneakers here as well.
Sweat Towel
Next up, my trusty sweat towel. Because let’s face it, things are bound to get sweaty, and having a soft towel on hand makes all the difference. It’s like a little slice of comfort amidst all the hard work. Nobody likes a drippy sweaty Betty.
Cosmetic Bags: Makeup, Hair or Body Items
Now, let’s delve into my cosmetic bags. Yes, bags plural—I like to keep things organized. In my smaller bag, you’ll find my go-to essentials: tinted moisturizer for a hint of coverage post-shower, lip stain that pulls double duty as cheek stain (gotta love those multi-taskers!), and a mini mascara to add a little oomph to my lashes before leaving and getting on with my day. Oh, and let’s not forget the lip balm—hydration is key, even during a workout.
Then there’s the larger cosmetic bag, complete with a handy handle for hanging on a shower stall. Inside it, you’ll find all the shower necessities: shampoo, conditioner, razor, body wash, deodorant and a trusty hairbrush to tame any post-shower tangles.
Shower Sandals
Ah, the infamous shower sandals—just a pair of cheap sandals I found at the discount store. Shower sandals are a must-have for protecting your feet from whatever lurks on those communal shower floors. I found that out the hard way years ago, and have never been barefoot there since!
Extra Hair Ties & Pins
Of course, I’ve got spare hair ties and bobby pins stashed away, just in case my locks decide to rebel mid-workout. Can’t have anything distracting me from my fitness goals!
Headphones or AirPods
Now, onto the music. I never hit the gym without my AirPods—they’re like my personal soundtrack to every workout. But hey, any comfortable headphones will do the trick. It’s all about finding your rhythm.
Extra Pair of Socks
I always toss in an extra pair of socks, just in case. Because nobody likes the feeling of damp socks clinging to their feet post-workout. There’ve also been times when I’ve gotten to the gym only to realize, I didn’t have socks on. So trust me on this one, and pack an extra pair for a rainy day.
Notebook & Pen
A small notebook and pen? Yep, got those too. There’s something satisfying about jotting down your progress, whether it’s the number of reps or how you’re feeling after a particularly grueling session. Not to mention, I try to go into the gym with a plan so that my time is efficient as possible.
Protein or Energy Bar
And let’s not forget about fuel. I always stash a protein bar in my bag for a quick pre or post-workout snack. Because let’s face it, a hungry gym-goer is not a happy gym-goer.
Water Bottle
I couldn’t write this post without mentioning my trusty water bottle. Hydration is key, folks. Plus, there’s something oddly satisfying about taking a big gulp of water between sets. I love this performance type bottle because it locks on top and I can just throw it in my bag and not worry about it spilling!
Locker Security (Lock)
Last but not least, my little locker lock. I’ve had this one for a while but I made sure to snap a photo of the combination on my phone because sometimes after a long workout I just can’t remember. I also make sure to bring this lock with because I always toss my purse into my gym bag as there have been occasional car break-ins at our gym parking lot over the years and I never want to be caught with personal belongings out there. At least this way I know it is locked securely right where I left it.
So, there you have it—my gym bag essentials laid bare. Nothing fancy, just the basics to keep me feeling prepared and motivated for whatever the gym throws my way. What are your must-haves for the gym? Let me know in the comments below!
Happy sweat sessions!
Sarah
