**Congratulations Cortney A. for winning the airbrush tan at Pacific Tan Co!!! Enjoy!Β
We had the opportunity recently to try out airbrush tanning, something Macy and I have never done before! We were definitely excited because a spray tan is an alternative and quicker way to acquire a tan than tanning beds. Plus, with Macy being pregnant and all, she really should not be going to tanning beds (and she doesn’t, don’t worry!)
So when Pacific Tan Co (Maple Grove, MN) offered the opportunity for us to try it out, we could not turn it down! Who doesn’t want to look luxuriously tan in the middle of the Minnesota winter?
First, there’s a little bit to know about Pacific Tan Co and how Michelle operates. (We have to tell you that she is the sweetest woman ever! She made the process so smooth, and she was so genuine, it definitely helped to calm our nerves.) Michelle uses heat-infused airbrush tanning. One of only two places in Minnesota that does this new process right now! But what does that mean? Well heat-infused airbrush tanning is wonderful. It delivers a gentle stream of heat along with the color and it dries nearly instantly (instead of 15-20 minutes later – le sigh!) The equipment she uses for this is called EVOLV. (definitely take the time to learn more about it here on their website if you’re interested!)
How to Prep for Airbrush Tanning
Before we came in, she gave us some tips for how to prep for our first time airbrush tanning. This included a little to-do list the night before or morning of:
- Shower
- Shave
- Exfoliate
What to Wear While Airbrush Tanning
You can choose to wear whatever you’d like while she airbrushes you. Though FDA suggests you at least wear underwear of some sort. You can wear your own swimsuit or undergarments, or she has disposable ones there you can use as well.
Will My Airbrush Tan Look Orange?
I was a little nervous that I’d end up orange looking, but as she sprayed on the color it was a golden tan. I was in love. With a few swipes of the front, back, and sides, we were done! Within 15 minutes, I was a new woman. And wow what a difference a tan can make!! I felt like I’d just gotten an extreme makeover!
What Should I Know For Post Tan?
For after the tan, she recommended we bring dark, loose fitting clothes to wear home as our tans completely dried. Though she assured us if we did get any on our clothing it would wash right out.
I could see the difference right away but I really saw a big difference the next morning, I looked like I had already put on my makeup and everything right when I woke up! I was so impressed, and I felt so good with my new instant tan π
How Can I Extend My Airbrush Tan?
If you’re going to go through the trouble of getting airbrush tanned, you will want to make it last as long as you can, right? So her tips to us for this were:
- No showering for at least four hours after the tan
- No mani/pedi sessions for at least four hours
- No excessive exercising/sweating for at least four hours
I happened to have a big dinner event the next night after I got my airbrush tan and that was the perfect timing. I had waited until before then to take my first shower (roughly 20 hours after getting my airbrush tan) and I did lose a little bit of the color but that’s expected. I would say if you were planning to get tanned for a special event, to do it the night before. It seemed to be just right as far as timing goes!
When would airbrush tanning be a good fit?
Michelle said she often did wedding parties (bridesmaids, bride, mother of the bride, etc.) along with prom goers. I honestly was thinking if I were to be pregnant I would get sprayed a couple days before my due date so that all my pics would look a little better, but that’s just me!! Lol!
If you are simply attending a wedding and needed a glow, this would be perfect too. You can choose from three different levels of tan; light, medium and dark. Macy and I both chose the middle ground (medium) of those two and it was perfect. It didn’t look like we were trying too hard and you definitely won’t stand out like you’ve been tanning for ninety days straight. Plus there is absolutely no orange streaks or blotches. It honestly looks like you just got off the beach.
How much do these airbrush tans cost?
For the basic spray, it will run you $40. Which is a good deal for this service! If you want a pre and post spray (pre spray helps to even your skin tone, and post helps to lock in the tan and moisturize) it’s $50. Which, if you’re going to spend the money to do it, I would definitely go for the pre and post and make it last as long as I could. We got both the pre and post treatments done and it takes mere seconds to add on. Worth it!!!
Now, Pacific Tan Co wants to give one of our readers the chance to have an airbrush tan (plus pre and post spray) for FREE!! They’re giving away one of these packages ($50 value) to a lucky winner!

I would love to win a free tan! I have some tan lines from the summer, you can see the lines very clearly, spray tan would help hide that, and also I will be going to Florida in January, that would help get a head start on my tan before then!

I would love to win this because I really hate paying for something I’ve never experienced before. This giveaway will give me the chance to experience a spray tan and hopefully continue using them in the future! Then, I can stop using the regular UV tanning beds during the winter and start doing spray tans instead (which we all know is much better for you). π

Ohmahgawd, I’d be all over this in a hot second! I was a total tanning addict through high school and into college. I luckily dropped the habit, but just had a skin cancer scare. While I’ve given up indoor tanning, I still miss BEING tan SO much! I will definitely be checking ’em out–thanks for the post, and fingers crossed!!! π
