We received our stay complimentary to review the Fort Blu Kids program. All opinions and thoughts are mine.
Last month after the dog days of summer had ended, and before my daughter started preschool, we took a special little trip before all of fall came at us. It might be a fun new tradition we start, who knows!? So for our little staycation, we traveled to Radisson Blu (at the Mall of America) down in Bloomington. They’ve launched a new Fort Blu Kids Camping package that I thought my 3 year old would absolutely love (and she DID)!
The program runs up until December 31st, 2018 and is a really neat way for kids to go camping, without mom and dad having to go out and buy all the equipment and schedule all the campsite reservations (or um, shower in those lovely porta houses at a campground – not judging, just saying I’m not super fond of them, lol!)
Anyways, the Fort Blu Kids Camping program includes an amazing little set-up of in-room camping where your room is transformed into a cozy campsite where kids can enjoy a version of s’mores, tell stories while sitting on wooden log (shaped pillows), and even sleep under the stars (with a star-gazing machine that my daughter thought was simply the coolest.)
The tent that they set up was adorable, and apparently families can even take these home with them after their stay to continue the camping adventure at home.
The Fort Blu Kids Camping package includes:
- An overnight stay at Radisson Blu Mall of America
- Kids tent and log-shaped pillows for guests to keep
- Projector to illuminate the guest room walls with stars
- S’more ice cream amenity with graham cracker and marshmallow toppings
- Radisson Blu Dream Journal
- Campsite entertainment, including a “Go Fish” card game and “Curious George Goes Camping” book
- Silver camping mug with carabiner
- Radisson Blu Mall of America’s Marty the Moose Adventure book and stuffed animal
To book your reservation with the Fort Blu Kids Camping package, it’s $217 per night. Kids can also become little explorers with the Blu Kids Club which allows them to travel to destinations around the hotel and the Mall of America with their very own Blu Passport (this program is complimentary for hotel guests)
We stayed at Radisson Blu last summer as well and it’s always an amazing stay there. Everything is so nice and new and modern, even the coffee machines brew up single serve espresso!
And speaking of showering while camping, this is definitely going to be far from what you’d expect camping (that’s why I like it). They have beautiful bathtubs and rainfall showers that make even luxury homes look like camping.
I was looking forward to sleeping on their king bed all day long. They’re so cozy and comfy, and in our room the door closed separate from the dining/living area so there were no windows to shine light in in the morning. I could have slept all day (wishful thinking with kids!)
It was definitely the best of all worlds. It was perfect to give her a little camping experience, and at the same time, I didn’t have to rough it for the weekend 🙂 Does it get any better than that?
For more information or to make a reservation, you can visit Radisson Blu online. Remember, the camping package goes through the end of the year, so if you want to take the family “camping” make sure you schedule it before then.
I hope you enjoy!! I know we sure did.
Til next time,
Sarah
