We received admission for review in this post, however all opinions are mine.
Last weekend, the family and I made a small trek out to St. Croix Falls, WI to check out Miracle at Big Rock. It’s *just* on the border of Minnesota and Wisconsin, a 45 minute drive from the metro area. When you pull up, you’re greeted by a million holiday lights glowing into the sky.
As soon as you park, you’re right nearby a helicopter pad where you can hop aboard to view the holiday lights from the sky. It’s a 30 minute ride along the course of the lights. The helicopter rides are a separate fee, but can seat up to 3 people if interested.
Walking into the park, you can purchase your tickets or you can buy them ahead of time and skip the line. I’m a big fan of ordering things ahead of time because I’m very impatient lol so personally I think this is definitely the way to go.
Right inside the gates, you’re greeted with bonfires, food trucks, beverages (alcoholic and non) along with the option to purchase tickets for the hayrides. The two hayrides are pulled by both a tractor, and horses – it just depends which pulls up first when you’re waiting in line! We rode on the tractor and it was a lot of fun, plus it was nice to ride and look at the lights. Your other option is to take a stroll around which is nice too, as long as you are dressed for the weather!

At the end of the tractor ride, they drop you off at the big barn where you can grab a drink, visit with Santa, check out the tent rentals, or watch the fireworks (Saturday evenings at 8:30pm).
Tips for the trip:
- They accept credit cards which is nice, but the food trucks typically require cash so keep that in mind.
- Dress EXTRA warm because it’s winter and sometimes that cold is frigid cold.
- They are open until January 2nd, so plan accordingly and get your tickets ahead of time!
- Veterans are free on Thursdays.
- You can WALK-THROUGH the holiday lights Thursday through Sundays. You can DRIVE-THROUGH the holiday lights Mondays through Wednesdays (so plan accordingly!)
- Parking is free.
So if you’re looking to do something festive around the holidays this year, definitely give this one a try! It’s lots of fun, and there is lots to see. If you’ve been there and want to leave some additional tips and tricks, feel free to leave a comment below!
Happy holidays!!
