Last night, my husband called from work because he remembered that I had my favorite dance class at our gym that night, I wasn’t planning on going though because time gets away from me and I get home late and it all adds up. Anyways – he told me to go to my dance class, he would come home, make dinner, and have it ready when I got home. What a gem, right?
Beyond that, he even put the leftovers away and did dishes. I was in awe, it was so nice. I got to watch my new show (Drop Dead Diva) and relax. This morning when he was pulling his lunch out and heading to work, he informed me that the tupperware with the ‘red covers’ were mine because he had taken out all the sausage that he knows I don’t like… Seriously! I couldn’t even believe it. I just had to give him a big hug, it was so thoughtful and it wasn’t anything that I’d even thought about asking him to do, he just did it.
The Aha! Moment
After my husband left for work, I was really impressed with him. Just one small thing like that had completely made my day and showed me that he really cared, and paid attention. So I got to thinking of ways that I could show him the same thing. It’s one thing to say “I love you” everyday but it’s another thing to do little gestures to show it. So I’ve compiled a little list of ways to show your significant other that you love them – without even saying a word.
Wife for Husband
If you want to show your husband you care, it’s time to be creative.
- Make his favorite dinner
- Pick up a 24 pack of his favorite beer
- Buy him tickets to his favorite sports team, and tell him to invite his best guy pal
- Offer up a massage after a long day at work
- Take the kids out to breakfast and let him sleep in on the weekend
- Rent a movie he’s wanted to see (Netflix, Redbox, etc.)
- Pick up a grocery item he loves but hasn’t had in a while
- Buy him new white undershirts or underwear!
- Leave a little love note in his briefcase, wallet or lunch bag
Husband for Wife
If you’re wanting to show your wife you care, try some of these ideas.
- Get up early to go get her her favorite coffee (Starbucks, Caribou, etc.)
- Do the laundry
- Clean up your kitchen
- Make breakfast, lunch or especially dinner
- Put a little love note in HER briefcase or lunch bag
- Buy her a book she’s been wanting to read
- Schedule her a massage and take the kids to dinner for the night
- Pour her a drink after a long day
- Schedule a date night (and babysitter if necessary)
- Bring home chocolates during ‘that time of month’
What about you, do you have any ideas? What have you done for your spouse to show you care? Leave a comment and share!
