This post is in partnership with the Premium Outlets, they were gracious enough to give me a gift card for back to school shopping this year! Thank you Premium Outlets!
Well it’s officially back-to-school season and that can be two things; great and sad. First great, because the kids are going BACK TO SCHOOL (moms, do a little happy dance) but it also means sad because summer is wrapping up and fall is near. Did I accurately describe your back-to-school emotions? If so, you’re not alone, that’s how I’ve been feeling about it too. Luckily today, we’re going to keep it on the positive note and talk to you about how you can stretch your dollar this back-to-school season and it starts at the Premium Outlets here in the Minneapolis area (that includes the Eagan Twin Cities Premium Outlets and the Albertville Premium Outlets).
I brought my daughter back to school shopping at the Albertville Premium Outlets last week to get some school clothes for this fall. She’ll be having her second year of Preschool (or is it considered Pre-K now? I don’t know…) and she’s extremely excited to go back! I think she loves the structure and constant activities – summer has been sooooo booooring for her!
Albertville Premium Outlets has a ton of options when it comes to stores for school-aged kids. I like to park in the middle somewhere and then walk end-to-end (it’s good exercise too!) so we started at Nike and worked our way all the way over to Old Navy, two of my favorite stores!
I told Ads that she could get 6 shirts and 6 pants, a pair of shoes and a backpack. Typically if I were taking her to a regular retail-priced mall somewhere I would have probably capped it at maybe 4 tops and 4 pants, but the nice thing is, your money goes a lot further at an outlet mall so were able to make our money last.
Also, I won’t lie. I was keeping my eyes peeled for some new fall wardrobe pieces for myself as well, I mean with the money I’m saving I deserve a little treat right? π
From Nike, we worked our way to Under Armour, Footlocker, and American Eagle. I tried talking her into some white sneakers for school, but she wasn’t having it. She wanted “rainbow shoes or my little pony ones” so we stopped at Payless Shoes and they had some really cute options. She found Paw Patrol shoes there and fell in love with those.

Next we came upon Osh Kosh and Lululemon. One store for her, and one store for me. I’m obsessed with the Lululemon outlet store, they have some really cute stuff and for way less. Also, they have ivivva items in the back (their brand for girls) so technically it had things for her AND me. Double win.
We found a top at Osh Kosh for her, and a pair of pants. We were working our way through the mall and had plenty of stores left to visit. But first. Coffee. They just put in a Starbucks a couple years ago at the outlets and it’s a MUST for each visit of mine. Shopping and coffee – is there really any better therapy?
Next came Adidas and North Face. I can usually find some really good deals at North Face, especially when it comes to sweatshirts and zip-ups. But they also had a full wall of backpacks as well which I thought was kind of cool. Plus, they were on sale of course.
Did you know they also have a Justice store at Albertville Premium Outlets? Last year she wasn’t too enthused about it but this year she absolutely loved it. She found some more tops and pants, plus her backpack here. It was a successful stop!

Our last stop of the day was at Old Navy because I knew she would find some basics here including some leggings, some socks, some tops and anything else I’d forgotten. I was right. We finished our shopping here and still had half our day left – it was glorious!
Now she’s ready for school and we still have a few weeks of summer left so we can enjoy them! If you need to get your back-to-school shopping done, the Premium Outlets are hosting a couple fun events to make it even more enjoyable! They’ll be having live music, free giveaways (including water bottles, sunglasses, and retailer gift cards), plus more giveaways and other surprises.
- Twin Cities Premium Outlets (Eagan, MN) – Saturday, August 10th from noon-3pm
- Albertville Premium Outlets (Albertville, MN) – Friday, August 16th from noon-3pm
Happy shopping! And even happier back-to-school season π
