1. Take Advantage of Rebates. Many companies offer rebates because it will help sell the product and they know that most people won’t take the time to send in the rebate form. It’s so simple to fill out the form, it usually just asked for your name and address, and you’ll have to include your receipt or rebate receipt that they give you at the counter. In return, you’ll get your money back or a credit to the store. Both are worth the little time and effort you’ll put into sending in the rebate form.
2. Buy the Display Item. I realize, it’s not always the case when there are actually products in boxes there to take, you’ll have to buy those. But when it comes down to the very last item and it’s the display item. Buy it. When you get to the register, a lot of times they will give you a 10-15% discount for buying the display product because that means it’s gotten bumped and used, etc. But most of the time, it’s in perfectly good shape – and still exactly what you wanted.
3. Get a Store Charge Card. Many stores (nearly almost stores) have a club or charge card that they want you to sign up for. The more money you put on their cards, the more of a valued customer you are to them. Now there’s a fine line between charging it and putting it on your charge – because after your charge transaction, you can tell the clerk that you’d like to make a payment on your card. Take the total off your receipt and pay it right off – usually they only allow a check or cash to pay them off, so come prepared. By doing this, you’ll have been able to:
- Save money by taking advantage of their percent off promotion when you ‘use your charge card’.
- Rack up points on your card by putting the money on there that you would have already spent anyways, but now you got credit for it.
- Do all this, without having to worry about debt or paying something off.
Try these tips and in no time, you’ll be acting like a seasoned retail pro! If you try them, stop back in and let us know how they worked for you.
