Now that we have another little one coming any day, I’ve been doing some research on baby monitors. With my first baby a few years ago, I went with the video monitor and then also a clip that goes on baby’s diaper to monitor their breathing. I used the diaper clip for a while but it wasn’t super convenient and it didn’t look very comfortable on my tiny little babe so I ended up just going with the video monitor.
This is a sponsored post in partnership with Smartbeat, all opinions are my own.
Then the other day I heard about Smartbeat, the baby monitor that also closely tracks baby’s breathing without any cords or devices, it closely monitors your child and records their breathing pattern. Pretty amazing right? See the screen grab below for how you can see their inhales and exhales all on your phone.
I can’t tell you how many times in the middle of the night I got up with my first child just to make sure her chest was rising and falling – what is it about being a parent that makes us go crazy like that? I could reassure myself all night long that she was fine but until I seen it for myself, I wouldn’t be able to sleep.
It’s pretty cool to see the Smartbeat in action, it makes you thankful for technology in this day and age, that’s for sure. I love that it doesn’t have any clips, monitors, mattress sensors, or anything like that. It does all the work for you, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
Beyond what I’ve been talking about, it also offers a range of other features to ease anxiety in moms and dads. This includes:
The App:
- Live video and audio streaming
- Real-time breathing chart
- Breaths-per-minute chart
- Continual audio access
- Motion detection
- Pan, tilt & zoom control
- Two-way audio
- Nightstand mode
- Image capture
Camera:
- HD image
- Smartphone and tablet remote viewing
- 355-degree panoramic view
- Infrared night vision
- Speaker and microphone
Base Station:
- 3″ x 3″ x 1″ mini computer
- Connects to home’s WiFi router
You can also tilt/pan/rotate the camera from your phone so that you don’t need to walk into the nursery and make any noise. That doesn’t sound like much, but when your little one FINALLY falls asleep, trust me the last thing you want to do is walk into that room as it quickly becomes a minefield and any sudden movements can and will determine your fate for the evening!
I’m excited to have this monitor for my next little babe, I already feel more at ease just thinking about it. Plus, I’m hoping to transition this baby into their crib sooner than I did my firstborn (I waited too long and it was a whole fiasco in it’s own) so this will be a saving grace when those nights come.
Check out the founding couple’s story on why they created the Smartbeat monitor, I think it will resonate you, it sure did with me.
