Oh summer. I absolutely love this time of year. I live for the sun, sand and water so these three summer months are definitely appreciated in this house. Now that little miss is officially ONE year old, we’ve had a lot more fun this summer than last year.
Our days are always busy, and are pretty much centered around her nap time (because that is the most important element) and my work time (next important element). Once my work and her nap time is done, we are free to roam about the country!
Fun things we’ve ventured out to do have included:
- Splash pads
- The pool
- Picnics
- Play dates
- Zoo
- Shopping (okay this was more me than her)
- Parks
- Walks (and lots of them!)
- Bike rides
- Music in the park
Our Montessori Time
Otherwise, I like to work on things at home with her too. She is such a home body that she just loves being home and playing. In the last couple months, I’ve been looking more into Montessori activities and learning. Basically the Montessori theory is to ‘follow the child’ and let them do things to their strengths. So far, she loves it and her fine motor skills have really improved. I’m amazed at her attention span when she’s doing things that she’s working on and curious about, it’s so fun to watch!
Toddler Snack Time
My little girl LOVES her snacks. She might get that from me, and her dad, okay she was doomed from the start. Now that she has a few teeth, I feel better about giving her some tougher snacks lately and she does really well with them! Here are a few of the snacks she enjoys on a regular basis:
- Graham crackers
- Goldfish
- Gerber cereal bars
- Cheerios
- Chex cereal
- Blueberries (halved)
- Strawberries (cut into smaller pieces)
- Banana
- Watermelon
- Toast
- Applesauce (in those squeeze pouches)
It’s been such a fun time spending the days with her and being able to work from home. I hope to come up with more activities as the summer continues! There are so many fun things to do in the summer, especially around the Twin Cities, I’m sure we’ll find plenty!
Until next time!
Sarah
