When I first started this article, I was scouring the internet for just the right baby gate. The issue on our stairs was that there was two different styles of entry. The bottom of the stairs was against a wall and a rail – plus it would have to be at the base of a stair. While the top of the stairs needed a gate that would go between two rail posts and be at the top of the stairs.
My daughter does not mess around, she is a MOVER and when she wants to get somewhere, she gets there. So once she started moving and grooving, it was time to make those stairs a whole lot safer than they were. She was constantly climbing the steps and getting herself into trouble.
I reached out to Regalo because they are my favorite when it comes to baby safety items. A friend of mine gave me her old Regalo gate that worked perfectly for the bottom of our stair set, so we just needed one for the top of the stairs! Luckily Regalo was up for sending me one of their walk-through baby gates to try out, and I was so thankful because it was just in the knick of time.
I absolutely loved this gate for several reasons. First off, it matched our railings perfectly so it fit in super well with our overall home design. Secondly, it was strong and held up to the strong baby test. She could not break through this thing, nor could she figure out how to get it open.
Another thing I loved about the gate was that it was super easy to open (as an adult) and it could swing wide open if needed. Some of the walk-through baby gates that I’ve seen have just that small 2-3 foot opening to walk through and sometimes you need more than that! Whether you’re carrying laundry up or have kids in tow. There are so many times I was so thankful that I had the whole stairway to walk through still.
I was super impressed with the ease of installation on the gate as well. My husband put it up within about 30 minutes, and he had it level, attached and secure in no time. Plus there was nothing screwed into the railings, so when it was time to come off – you would never even know it had been there. That was a huge selling point for me because you only use a baby gate for a year or so and then you get your stairs back! You don’t want big holes or gaps after the fact.
We give this baby gate two thumbs up. And for the price, we would absolutely recommend it. It was one of the best baby gates I have seen, and with it’s telescoping gate and full panel swing, it’s hands down worth the small price.
If you’re looking to find one, you have to check this baby gate from Regalo out. It sells for $49.99, and is worth every penny. I’m looking forward to the days when we have the stairwells back, but for now I’m just thankful she’s safe and we have the peace of mind now with that.
That’s all for today, I hope that helps you in your journey to finding the perfect baby gate that works for your family!
Hearts,
Sarah
