Now that it’s finally summer, it’s been a bit of a learning curve with a new babe. My first was born in May so I’m used to having a newborn through summer months. But now, little Emma is 8 months old and a little more mobile and active than I remember her sister being. For that reason, it’s been a lot of trial and error this summer in what is going to work for us and not against us. Here are the must-haves that I’ve deemed important for baby this summer.
Some samples were received to review in this post and are marked with an asterisk (*), all opinions are my own.
#1) Regalo Six Panel Portable Play Yard* – This has been a saving grace this summer for both my little one and my sister’s little guy as well. Once they’re crawling and into things, life gets a lot harder! But when you’re able to corral them into a safe secluded area, it makes life as a mom so much easier. We’ve used this at the cabin a lot, when we’re outdoors and just need a spot for the little ones so that they don’t make their way to the water. It’s also great at home when you need to get dishes done and don’t want them getting into everything while you’re doing so. They also have canopies that you can add to keep the sun and bugs out as well.
#2) Motorola Halo Baby Monitor* – I wasn’t a big fan of the baby monitor that I had for our first, so I was keeping my eyes open for something better my second time around. With the Motorola Halo, it attaches to the crib to give a birds-eye view of your baby. The monitor is phenomenal and is very portable with a great battery life. Not to mention, if you’d rather watch from your phone, you can just download the Hubby-for-Baby app and see your little one from anywhere. This is perfect for when I’m outside gardening or playing with our preschooler, I can still keep an eye on babe (and an ear too).
#3) Dock-a-Tot Lounger Pillow* – I can’t say enough good things about the Dock-a-Tot, because we have used it since day one when Emma came home from the hospital. It creates such a snug little cozy nest for your little one to hang out in, that even at 7 months old, she’s still snuggled up in it when she drinks her bottles. We’ve even used it for her in the boat this summer at the cabin, I put on her life jacket and then she snuggles in while we go boating. There are so many good uses for it, that we’re still discovering all the ways to put it to good use.
#4) Coolibar UPF Swimwear – It’s a fine line when they’re able to wear sunscreen and when they’re not, so to cover all my bases, I invested in some UPF swimwear for both my little ones. Coolibar is my favorite brand for this (they’re actually out of St. Louis Park here in Minnesota) but I even love their stuff for myself too!
These are my top picks and discoveries this summer. It’s been awesome to find products that help my everyday life and solve the problems for me so that I can just focus on enjoying the kiddos. If you have something to add to the list that’s helped you get through the summer, feel free to leave a comment below and share!
