Have you ever found yourself in a situation without a car and you needed a ride? (In the event you haven’t stopped by your local Chrysler dealer lately…) Well I think it’s safe to say that the phenomenon of Uber is here to stay. It’s grown in numbers, not only in users but drivers as well. I’ve never used Uber before, so I was curious what there is to know when it comes to the genius app. Here’s a quick Uber 101 course in what you should know before using Uber!
What is Uber?
It’s an inexpensive, convenient and safe taxi service built of drivers just like you and I. Uber is an on-demand service that allows riders to be picked up from their location within minutes.
How does it work?
Just by going in the app and setting your pickup location, you’ll also set your destination location so that your driver will know where you are headed. A vehicle will be there in minutes to pick you up! It’s that easy. You must be over 18 to request a ride.
Once you’ve booked a driver, the app will give you the driver’s name, vehicle type and license plate number along with their location so you can see where they are as they come to pick you up.
Uber is a ‘cashless’ transaction, the app charges your card when you’ve arrived so you don’t need to carry cash and tip is not required or expected.
Is it safe?
Uber takes safety extremely. Traditionally, they allow drivers and riders to rate their experience after a ride. This gives Uber the feedback they need to keep both drivers and riders safe. They’ve also recently upped their game as well when it comes to safety. They make sure that they’re always on the GPS grid so you can track where you are, and others can as well. Your information is kept confidential as well, so your name and number are never mishandled.
