With back-to-school time in the air, I’ve gotten that taste of freedom that I just can’t shake. I love my girls, but it’s so nice to have a little time to yourself once in a while isn’t it? Anyways with the season of school upon us, I wanted to tackle how you can make school drop-offs a breeze, starting with your vehicle. A special thanks to our favorite Ohio Jeep dealer for all the good advice!
Routine & Designated Car Areas
First off, set your car up for success. This means cleaning out all the clutter from the summer and organizing things in a well-designed plan. Depending on how many kids you will be dropping off, have a set plan in place to getting out the door in the morning. Will the kids place their backpacks and lunches on the floor in front of them, the seat next to them or in the rear cargo area? Have a plan so that they know what is expected of them. With this plan in place, not only do you remember to bring everything that morning but it will also help to have a routine at the same time.
Prepare for Breakfast On-The-Go
Another way to prepare for a successful school drop off is to grab a few shelf-stable breakfast items and keep them in a special compartment somewhere in your vehicle. Don’t forget a couple bottles of water as well. This will help to cut out some of the out-the-door stress that arises, especially when you’re running late and your child is complaining, “But I didn’t have breakfast!”
Stock the Car
When the seasons change, don’t forget to change your vehicle cargo as well. In the back of my vehicle, I have a small box filled with things like a first aid kit, extra hats/mittens, spare sweaters, etc. This is incredibly helpful in those winter months when you get to drop-off at school and your little one has somehow misplaced their hat or mittens. Maybe they forgot a coat altogether, or they have a mysterious battle wound that just arrived as you headed out the door. Whatever the situation, be prepared.
