Getting ready to hit the dusty trail? There are lots of different things you need to check before you head out. I’m going to cover the hard basics and then everything else is up to you!
- Luggage. Make sure each family member’s luggage (clothing) is packed up. You might think this is a given, but you’d be surprised.
- Entertainment. Kids these days have lots of options when it comes to entertaining themselves in the car. DVD systems, tablets, computers, mp3 players, cell phones, the list goes on and on. But don’t forget the chargers for these items! If you’re looking for things that are not electronic, consider books, word puzzle books, playing cards, and any travel games.
- Snacks. These were always my favorite things to pack when I was a kid. Everything from peanut butter crackers, fruit, and okay, even junk food. Oh and don’t forget a small cooler with some beverages!
- Comfort Items. Don’t forget about bringing some blankets and pillows. This will make your trip much more comfortable and in turn, makes it less likely for the kids to cause a fuss.
It’s a good idea to make sure that your vehicle is in tip-top shape as well. Check out this post for a road trip auto care checklist.
