Okay, this post is going to hit home with many of you readers with kids. Have you ever stopped to look at your back seat just to realize how incredibly filthy it is? It’s funny how things accumulate back there, isn’t it? Everything from food, to toys, to cups (or bottles), garbage and even hardened fruit snacks.
Yeah, you can find a little bit of everything back there. So instead of taking hours out of your day to clean it once a season, wouldn’t it just be easier to keep it clean along the way and not have to take out that chunk of time at all? Here’s some tips from our New York Subaru dealer on how you can easily manage to keep your car clean, despite having kids in the back seat.
5 Minutes A Day Keeps Your Car Clean
#1) Since the kids are typically the ones making all the mess, take into consideration what you are giving them in the car. I’m guilty of handing my daughter a small cup of whipped cream from Starbucks, only to have her throw it on the floor of my car, spilling everywhere. You can help to avoid the mess by limiting the things that have the capability to become a disaster.
#2) Clean out your vehicle after every ride. This includes coats, hats, mittens along with cups, toys, food, whatever you came upon in that ride. By taking the time to clean your vehicle little by little, it won’t build up on you (preventing it from becoming overwhelming).
#3) Vacuum your car out every couple weeks. Along the same line of keeping the clutter low, you can also keep the dirty to a minimum as well by taking a handheld vacuum and cleaning out your vehicle every couple weeks.
#4) Stock up on baby wipes. Keep baby wipes on board (okay, let’s admit that you already probably have them on board anyways) in case of spills or sticky messes. A little bit of advice too, they also work great on coffee spills.
#5) Invest in a couple great cleaning supplies. I have a couple cleaning products that I use on a regular basis that make my job much easier when cleaning up any messes in the car. The first one is an upholstery cleaner with a brush on the end. The other is auto wipes for your dashboard, they also do double duty for making your car smell nice and fresh too.
Keeping your vehicle clean along the way can cut down on the big chore that is cleaning your car out after your kids have destroyed it. Day by day, and it’ll stay looking great!
