If you’re planning a road trip, you’re probably trying to think of everything you could possibly need for every step along the way. In the midst of trying to plan for what we know, there are ultimately going to be things that we don’t plan for. Maybe you come upon horrible traffic along the way, get delayed a few hours, or arrive at your hotel only to find they don’t have your name on any reservations – then what? Well fear not, thanks to our friends at this Kentucky Chrysler dealer, we’ve got a comprehensive list of seven smartphone apps you will want to download before you leave for your road trip. Let’s take a look!
7) Roadtripper.
The ultimate app for finding things to do, places to eat or places to sleep along your journey, Roadtripper is the app to have for the ‘just in case’ moments. You plan your trip ahead of time on your computer, then load the app along the way to track your progress.
6) HotelTonight.
Let’s say your reservation you made two months ago just goes mysteriously missing and you have nowhere to stay now. Take a breath and load up HotelTonight. They’ll give you options for where to stay at an affordable price.
5) iExit.
Cruising the freeway when you suddenly need a restroom, coffee, food or wifi? Check out this app. It will show you what’s coming up and how far off your route it will be.
4) TripIt.
If you are one that likes plans and itineraries, then you’ll appreciate the TripIt app. It allows you to plan your trip from start to finish. Everything from food, hotels, shopping and more.
3) GasBuddy.
Probably one of the things you’re going to focus on the most (minus food of course) is fuel for your vehicle. With GasBuddy, you can find the closest gas stations and it gives you their current pricing as well. So you can find the cheapest gas or the closest gas, depending on your priorities!
2) Triposo.
Don’t you love when you’re traveling based on your cell signal and all of a sudden, something’s not right. You’ve lost signal and you’re in the middle of nowhere with absolutely no help. Enter Triposo, where you can download maps and guides so that you’re able to access them in case you go offline. So smart!
1) Waze.
Last but not least, is our number one pick – Waze. This is my favorite road trip app because it can save you so much time and stress. It gives you updated traffic information, construction or road work warnings, even speed traps! This has been such a saving grace for our trips and it’s well worth downloading before you leave!
These are my top 7 must-have road trip apps, but there are plenty more out there. Which ones are your favorite? Leave a comment below and share with us!
