Last year, I became a mom. Before then, I carried all things a single woman typically carries in her car; an umbrella, gum, an extra pair of flats, that type of thing. Well since becoming a mom, that list of ‘just in case’ items has drastically changed. Once we got some pointers from a North Carolina Ford dealer, I realized I had to be prepared. And if you’re a parent, I think you can relate. There are new priorities and essentials that we have to cater to, aren’t there? Here are five things parents keep in their cars these days.
5. A roll-up blanket. These are a lifesaver, and you can usually find them at a variety of different locations. I have a few that I’ve been given as promotional gifts, and they work awesome to just have in your vehicle for any occasion. They’re great for picnics, impromptu park pitstops, sporting events, and more. On a whim, a beach towel is also a great alternative.
4. Extra clothing. Yes, for you or the kids. This might include an extra sweater for both of you, or a onesie if you have an infant. Also included in this might be a diaper changing pack (with wipes and diapers) just in case you run out in the diaper bag or forget the diaper bag altogether!
3. Plastic bag. Trust me, it’ll come in handy. Whether you have a child who’s not feeling well (it becomes a vomit bag), or an unfortunate diaper blowout. You can keep incidents contained no matter what the issue, that’s the joy of the oversupplied plastic bags in this world.
2. Umbrella stroller. No matter how old they are, an umbrella stroller always comes in handy. Plus, they have a pretty small footprint so you can store them in any small space available in your vehicle and they won’t take up much space.
1. First aid kit. You never know what kind of situation you’ll find yourself in when you are out and about and you may need a bandaid or cleaning swab. Having a small first aid kit on hand at any given time is a great idea for any mom.
