But where do you travel to within Illinois, and really, what is worth seeing? I talked to my friends at this Illinois Jeep dealer for some ideas on what’s worth checking out.
5. Illinois Beach State Park
If you love to be by the water, then you’ll adore Illinois Beach State Park. There is a lot to see, and so much to just observe. The beach itself is 6.5 miles long, and has plenty of space for hiking, biking, swimming, camping, fishing and more.
4. Starved Rock State Park
While we’re on the state park theme, here’s another one you definitely need to check out. Gorgeous waterfalls, great hiking, fishing, and plenty of beautiful sights, this one will be sure to satisfy all your nature cravings.
3. Anderson Japanese Gardens
Take a drive out to Rockford, IL to see 12 acres of beautiful landscape scenery and garden. Everything from streams, to small waterfalls, and lovely sights, it’s a place worth stopping and checking out.
2. Garden of the Gods
We’re big fans of beautiful scenery and this one really takes the cake. Go explore the gorgeous sights and while you’re there, see some of these miracles of nature that have been developing over the course of thousands of years.
1. Burden Falls
If you really love your waterfalls, don’t forget to add this one to your list of must-sees! Also located in Shawnee National Forest, it is one of the highest waterfalls in Illinois and while you’re there, you’ll have plenty of options for hiking trails as well on the 400 miles of trails available there.
