Last month, I finally took the plunge and purchased a new vehicle. I’d done my research and had really taken a liking to the Jeep Grand Cherokees. They seemed to be classy and elegant, plus adventurous and tough. They also seemed to hold their value well, and that’s always reassuring when you’re purchasing any type of vehicle. After doing some research with a Baltimore Jeep dealer, we were able to get a nice deal on a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland and I’d do it all over again! Here’s my recap of the vehicle in case you’re considering making a vehicle change in the near future.
Comfort of the Jeep Grand Cherokee
The most important thing to me with my new vehicle was comfort. I’m constantly in my vehicle, driving from place to place with my daughter and fitting the whole family comfortably was going to be key. I really like that the front seats are really spacious so you don’t feel crammed at all. The back seat fits adults comfortably as well, which is helpful when you’re fitting car seats and extra passengers all at the same time. I have fit 2 car seats back there with loads of space left, and I think you could easily fit two convertible car seats with a booster seat in the middle and still sit pretty comfortably.
Cargo Space
Another concern of mine when choosing a vehicle is the cargo space. I haul groceries, strollers, bicycles, gym equipment and lawn chairs frequently so being able to move those in and out easily was another thing I put a lot of emphasis on. The Grand Cherokee has a ton of space in the back, so I’ve been able to pack in my stroller, groceries, and lawn chairs all at the same time and still have room left if I needed it. That’s huge! It also has a privacy screen as well if you’re ever parking somewhere a little sketchy and want to leave your purse or computer or any sort of valuables in the back, you can pull the privacy shade and no one will be able to see what’s back there.
Gas Mileage
Although I was really surprised at the size of this gas tank (24.6 gallons to be specific), it makes for a great commuting vehicle. With that large of a tank, you’re not filling up as often and you’re still getting 18 MPG city and 25 MPG highway. I have found my average to typically be somewhere around 20 MPG on my drives, obviously that will vary depending on the driver and what you primarily use the vehicle for.
Technology
MUSIC: Possibly my favorite thing about the vehicle is how equipped it is with the latest technology. Not only does it come with Apple CarPlay (so your phone is essentially mirrored in the car’s display screen) but it also streams your Spotify, Apple Music or SiriusXM right there.
NAVIGATION: It also has a built-in navigation system or you can mirror your Google Maps from your phone via the Apple CarPlay. I like mirroring my phone better at this point, just because it’s what I’m used to and it’s nice to see the screen big on my car’s display.
CLIMATE: You can control your car’s heat/air from the knobs or on the display screen. This also includes ventilated/heated seats along with a heated steering wheel.
APPS: You can check local gas prices, movie show times, find the nearest restaurant/sports center/etc., and loads more.
WEATHER: The display options also include a live weather doppler and weather forecast. This is really neat to see especially if you’re traveling and want to see what’s ahead of you.
Extras
One of my favorite features of the vehicle is the keyless entry and ignition. All I really need to do is have the key fob in my purse at all times and I’m able to lock, unlock and start my vehicle without even touching the keys. Once you get close enough to your vehicle with the key fob, you’re able to push the button on your door and it unlocks/locks your vehicle. You’re also able to open the automatic tailgate without the key as well. And the ignition, same thing. It makes digging for your keys seem really kind of silly now.
As I mentioned before, I’d definitely pick the same vehicle all over again if I were to have to choose. It’s been an awesome vehicle so far, and it seems like each day I learn about more features that make it the #1 pick in my book. We chose to lease the vehicle, but MSRP for a 2018 currently starts at $45,295.
Until next time,
Sarah
