Have you heard of this new trend where you can order a mattress online and it is shipped to your door? It’s kind of a crazy concept, in fact I was super curious to see how exactly it works. So when I got the chance to try out a mattress, complimentary of NECTAR Mattress for review, I had to check it out. I’ve seen them all over Instagram, people ordering these mattresses – yes, mattresses, online.
They come rolled up, dropped off on your front step.
But hoooow?
So I picked out our mattress type on their website, we have a king bed so that’s the one I went with. Some fun facts about the NECTAR Mattress and how it works:
- It works with all bed frames. (this includes traditional frames, adjustable, platform, box spring, etc.)
- You can do a 365 night trial and if you’re not happy, you’ll get a full return and they’ll collect the mattress free of charge.
- It has a ‘forever’ warranty.
- There is free shipping and returns.
When the mattress arrived, it came in a waterproof outer bag, then inside was another protective bag, then, wrapped in plastic was another protective layer – so no, this mattress wasn’t getting damaged during transit.
How does the NECTAR mattress work?
I thought to best demonstrate how it works, I put together a little video of us unboxing the mattress together from start to finish (starting with our doorstep and ending on our frame.) Grab some popcorn, here we go!
As you can see, my husband did most of the heavy lifting lol! But hey, someone had to man the video camera. It ending up being a super simple process and it probably took less than 10 minutes for us to get it all laid out. It took a little bit for it all to puff up, but within an hour it was ready to test out. It was an awesome surprise to find two memory foam pillows inside that beautiful taco-of-a-mattress too!
I like looking at the breakdown of layers on a mattress, I don’t know why, it’s just satisfying somehow! The NECTAR mattress has five different layers, with the top layer helping to circulate air and wick away heat while you sleep. So if you’re prone to sweating while you snooze, this could be your ticket.

NECTAR Firmness Level
The mattress itself is the NECTAR Sleep: Memory Foam Mattress – so it’s a memory foam mattress. The level that they describe the mattress as is a ‘medium firm‘ so it isn’t going to be a soft pillowy feeling. This is nice to know up front so if you like a firm mattress, then this is the one you want! NECTAR gives you the support of a firm mattress while pampering you with the comfort of a pillow top. They use premium materials to ensure it perfectly contours your body.
