Oh summer, how much fun we had together. Sadly, it can’t last forever. As you’ve probably noticed, the weather is getting cooler, the days are getting shorter and it’s time to start prepping for fall and winter. With that being said, it’s important to think about getting your vehicle cleaned up and ready for winter. Here’s how!
Cleaning the Seats – How many times have you heard ‘Uh oh!’ from your backseat? Typically it’s a cup from the drive through, a messy snack you knew you shouldn’t have given them but did to appease them, that kind of thing. Well, now it’s time to clean up the accumulation of summer fun.
This Missouri Jeep dealer recommends mixing in a medium bowl: 1/4 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of warm water. Apply this mixture to any stains on your upholstery with an old toothbrush or paintbrush. Allow it to set for 30-45 minutes then use a towel to remove the mixture. You can then use (in a squirt bottle) a mixture of: 3 drops of Dawn dish soap, 1/3 cup vinegar, 1 cup warm water, to clean up the seats. Wipe down with a dry towel until your seats are clean! This mixture will also help to deodorize any smells you might have in there as well.
Cleaning the Floor & Mats – If you have stains you need to treat on your floor mats, you’ll appreciate this little concoction of stain cleaner. Combine in a spray bottle: 1/2 cup Dawn dish soap, 1 cup hydrogen peroxide. Allow it to sit for 5 minutes, then wipe off.
Did you also know you can throw your floor mats in the washing machine? It’s true! And how easy is that? Much easier than scrubbing if you ask me.
Window Cleaning – Typically I recommend the usual Windex for cleaning your vehicle’s windows, but you can also use water, vinegar and Dawn dish soap as an alternative if you are out of window cleaner. If you have something gunked on your window really stuck, I’ve found that a razor blade gets it off in a matter of seconds and won’t damage your window.
Once you’re done cleaning the interior, it’s not a bad idea to run your car through the car wash and it’s like a day at the spa for your vehicle! Don’t forget to prepare your car for winter with these tips.
